Tight Lines is proud to announce that we are sponsoring Tasty Trek, a group of three young men from England who are walking the length of New Zealand to raise money for
Solar Light for Africa and WaterAid.
Starting at Cape Reinga in late 2010, Landey Patton, Anders Ford and Damien Ford hope to arrive in Bluff in April 2011. By doing so they will be among the first people to have walked the length of the new Te Araroa Trail, a journey of approximately 3000km. The Te Araroa (The Long Pathway) Trail officially opens in February 2011 and is being created in an effort to link the major tramping trails in New Zealand into one long trail spanning the length of both main islands. The trail takes in the best of New Zealand’s coastlines, forests, volcanoes, mountains, rivers and cities.
Tight Lines is sponsoring the trio with Leatherman and Pacific Cutlery products to help them on their journey. They are making their way down the country with the bare minimum of supplies to keep their load light, and these multi-use products will become indispensable for them as they travel.
The Tasty Trek team chose the Leatherman Skeletool CX, the Leatherman Freestyle CX and the Pacific Cutlery Bushmaster to accompany them on their journey.
The Leatherman Skeletool CX allows you to keep weight and volume to a minimum without sacrificing quality and functionality. It contains all the essential tools including a one-handed opening knife blade, pliers, four popular screwdriver options and a carabiner/bottle opener, yet weighs only 142 grams – perfect for someone walking the entire length of the country carrying all his possessions on his back!
The Leatherman Freestyle CX features DLC coating for scratch and corrosion resistance, making it great for those adventures that really put your gear to the test. Its powerful jaws, outside-accessible blade and removable pocket clip means it can function like a
multi tool or a pocket knife.
Pacific Cutlery Knives feature a wide variety of styles of knives and accessories at very affordable prices.
